As the world’s population of the LGBTQ+ community continues to grow—with the Millennial generation twice as likely to identify as LGBT compared to adults of all ages —it is important for leaders, including those in spiritual and mental health settings, to continue to be educated on the challenges this population faces, and the support that can be offered.
Many already have been leading the way!
Blanton-Peale Institute & Counseling Center, in partnership with Believe Out Loud, and Parity presents this 6-part series to explore how we can best support LGB people of various intersectionality, Trans people, LGBTQ youth, same-sex couples and their children, and those who identify outside of the LGBTQ spectrum.
Who could benefit from the series?
- Anyone—LGBTQ+ or ally—who finds themselves leading a small or large group that includes LGBTQ+ people and wants a better understanding of mental health challenges.
- Leaders from religious or spiritual settings (clergy, small group leader, board member, or other leadership role).
- Mental Health professionals who want a deeper understanding of the religious and spiritual aspects for LGBTQ people.
- Professionals who work within the LGBTQ+ community, seeking an understanding of the positive and negative impacts of spiritual and mental health on LGBTQ people.
What you can expect:
Becoming a part of a learning community with expert presentations, panel discussions, and activity workshops. We also give you the opportunity to share your own experiences and wisdom, so we all can gain additional tools to support the LGBTQ+ community.
