Purpose

The Blanton-Peale Institute and Counseling Center was founded in 1937 by the Rev. Norman Vincent Peale (left), the eminent author and minister, and psychiatrist Smiley Blanton (right), an early psychoanalyst trained by Freud.

Blanton-Peale’s mission, realized at present in a NY State licensed clinic, a state licensed training program in Psychoanalysis, and a Pastoral Care and Counseling Program in Korean, has always been that of its founders, to alleviate human suffering and to affirm the meaningfulness and abundance of life through a combination of the insights of the various schools of psychology and those of the great spiritual traditions.

In short, through mental health treatment and academic training, our goal is to help individuals flourish and make the world a healthier place in which to live.
